Hilfswerk International aligns its work with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the principles of universal human rights.
Our needs-based projects are developed and implemented in close cooperation with national and international partners. This ensures that our programs effectively address the needs of local populations.
Hilfswerk International works closely with local teams and experts in its focus countries. This approach ensures that programs are tailored to the specific challenges and cultural contexts of each country. The expertise and networks of our local partners play a crucial role in the successful implementation of our programs and projects.
We collaborate with a diverse range of civil society organizations (CSOs) across various sectors that are deeply rooted in local communities. These partnerships ensure that our programs are supported by local stakeholders and aligned with on-the-ground needs. A key priority for us is strengthening local structures to sustain initiatives beyond project and program lifespans.
We work with a wide range of municipalities, associations, local and national governments, administrative bodies, and locally operating international organizations (e.g., UNIDO, WIPO, UNDP, UNICEF, UNECE, WFP, GIZ). These partnerships ensure that our programs complement the initiatives of other stakeholders, creating synergies that benefit local communities. This approach allows us to foster long-term, sustainable, and locally anchored solutions.
Hilfswerk International collaborates with the private sector and academic institutions to foster innovation and drive economic development. Our partnerships with smallholder farmers, cooperatives, micro-enterprises, universities, and research institutions help generate economic opportunities and develop scientifically sound solutions that can be applied in practice. These partnerships are essential for designing programs that consider both economic and social dimensions.
Our programs are supported and financed by a wide range of donors, including the European Commission (e.g., EuropeAid, Erasmus+, ECHO), international foundations (e.g., Kahane Foundation, Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation, Medicor Foundation, ERSTE Foundation, Linsi Foundation), private donors, national and federal institutional funders (Austrian Development Agency, Nachbar in Not, Austrian ministries and federal states), and other institutional donors (e.g., Liechtenstein Development Service). These long-term partnerships ensure the financial sustainability of our programs and projects.
