Hilfswerk International is committed to improving health and social systems to support particularly vulnerable groups and enhance their quality of life sustainably. Our work is based on demand-driven approaches developed in close cooperation with local communities to address the specific needs of children, older people, persons with disabilities, and refugees.
Drawing on the expertise of our Austrian partners, we develop mobile care services to improve healthcare access and support for elderly and dependent individuals, particularly in remote areas such as the South Caucasus and the Western Balkans. We place special emphasis on strengthening maternal and child health and reducing maternal and infant mortality through targeted health programs and awareness campaigns, such as in Mozambique. In Sofala, Mozambique, our innovative interventions have reduced maternal and child mortality by approximately 80%, influencing the national health strategy.
We provide mobile and center-based psychosocial support for children and adults, helping them cope with trauma, discrimination, and social exclusion while fostering long-term resilience. Our ultimate goal is to ensure comprehensive health and social inclusion for all individuals, regardless of their circumstances.
